Travel Before and After Studying Abroad

One of the most expensive parts of traveling (if not the most expensive part) is the transportation costs. When you are abroad you should take advantage of this. If you’re in Europe you can get cheap flights almost anywhere through Ryan Air and Easy Jet. You can also take the Eurail.

In South America, Africa, and Australia, you can fly between cities for relatively cheaply (especially considering what it would cost to fly from the US).

Buses work well too and are often cheaper and safer than trains. In Europe a good bus system is Eurolines.

Zuji is a search engine that works well for international flights. Be sure to see what discounts you can get with your ISIC card. Make sure you have a backpack that you can throw some clothes in and take off for a weekend. Take advantage of exploring your country and the surrounding countries. Who knows when you’ll be able to go back.
